[athraigh foinse]Haigh, a Dowlinme. Tá fáilte romhat chuig an Vicipéid! Go raibh maith agat as do chuid dréachtaí a chur suas anseo. Tá súil agam go mbainfidh tú taitneamh as do chuid ama anseo! Tá sé éasca ailt nua a chruthú, agus thig leat dul go dtí an Halla Baile chun caint leis na Vicipéideoirí eile (más mian leat é sin a dhéanamh), nó dul go dtí an Lárionad Comhphobail chun breathnú ar na heachtraí Vicipéide is déanaí. Tá breis eolais fóinteach in ár reamhrá, freisin.
Más é do thoil é, sínigh do chuid theachtaireachtaí ar leathanaigh phlé le ceithre thilde a chlóscríobh; ciallaíonn sé sin go hionsáfar d'ainm úsáideora agus an dáta go huathoibríoch. Má tá cabhair ag teastail uait, féach ar Vicipéid:Cabhair, nó cuir ceist ormsa nó ar na heagarthóirí eile ar ár leathanaigh phlé. Beir bua! SeoMac (plé) 21:06, 29 Samhain 2016 (UTC)

[athraigh foinse]Agus fáilte Uí Cheallaigh romhat! Thaitin sé go mór liom gur suim leat aistriúchán uathoibríoch na Gaeilge. Tá dul chun cinn le déanamh fós maidir le aistriúchán uathoibríoch go Gaeilge. SeoMac (plé) 21:52, 20 Samhain 2017 (UTC)

Ba mhaith liom cúpla focal a chur lena bhfuil ráite
- AI
The elephant in the room today is AI (AI does not figure in the Straitéis at all); why bother with Wikipedia, let alone the Vicipéid, with AI around? I would be interested to see training or presentation material that addresses this and other material.
For the Vicipeid, the challenge now is acute. For example, if you want to know what an Eiscir (esker) is as Gaeilge, you are far better off asking ChatGPT today. That will remain the case until Irish language editors go to COGG and reliable sources like leabhair scoile and import massively content that is well written, and Wikify it.
=> Current Vicipéid editors need to be persuaded to do that rather than starting translations from scratch of ponderous, heavy text on English Wikipedia, or writing on entertainment and sports topics.
- PRESS COVERAGE
The Vicipéid highlight of the year so far has been very negative and uninformed press coverage, prompted by a Tuairisc article in January.
More generally, I would like to see attempts to go “i ngleic” with the Irish media, in English and Irish…. With interviews and articles, on the radio, TV, and the press. I appreciate that this is a skill and not everyone may know how to go about doing it.
For the Vicipéid, it would not be too hard to just rehash some of the positive articles that came out in the press in the mid-2000s and get them placed in written media again today.
- SCOILEANNA
For the Vicipéid, I would see collaboration with schools to be just about raising awareness. That supposes that the Vicipéid has decent content to offer school pupils. But in the areas of History and Geography, articles in school textbooks as Gaeilge are generally superior to the Vicipéid (eg the Esker example above).
I am very opposed to editing events for schools, or indeed edathons for anyone that doesn’t have good written Gaeilge and is mature. Past contributions from school pupils have yielded far more trouble than value.
- EVENTS
I would prefer to see participation in concrete, key, language events such as Oireachtas na Gaeilge, ArdFheis Conradh na G, and Scoileanna and Eigse like Scoil Merriman, that are more likely to have potentially competent editors. I would see “Seachtain na Gaeilge” type events as more about raising awareness of the existence of the Vicipéid vs AI. And the SnaG page on wikimedia.ie has yet to be updated for 2025 (I would have liked to see more concrete information for 2024).
- TRAVEL
I would prefer to see resources put into Ireland, not collaboration in editing events abroad.
- Wikimedia Community Ireland
“The group meets virtually monthly. Minutes from those meetings can be found …” No update since 2023. I would expect regular attempts to communicate with editors. I would have liked more notice to prepare comments on “dréacht-Straitéis 2025–2028”; I got 4-days notice of the meeting on 27 May 2025.
- Dréacht-Straitéis 2025–2028
I would appreciate
- More concrete information and ideas.
- At least a recognition of AI in the Straitéis, and some ideas around how technology can help us (references to DCU itself absent from the doc)
- There have been requests to prioritise Tuaisceart Éireann for 2 years now. Expecting concrete details.
- “Continue to refine resources for educators”. What concretely are these “resources”; what toolkits do we have in mind? Is it possible to see the Wiki Women toolkit?
- “leveraging social media to highlight relevant Irish language hashtags”. Any more concrete ideas?
Teastaíonn cabhair uaim
[athraigh foinse]A Dowlinme Is mise Pamela, mac léinn as an Iodáil. Bhí mé ag obair ar leathanach ealaíontóra Iodálaigh a bhfuil air. https://ga.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrea_Benetti Ar an drochuair, níl mé in ann an leathanach a bharrfheabhsú mar go dúradh liom go bhfuil earráidí sa bhunfhoclaíocht, ach níl go leor Gaeilge agam chun iad a cheartú. An féidir leat cabhrú liom an leathanach a cheartú? Nó an bhfuil a fhios agat cé leis ar cheart dom teagmháil a dhéanamh? Go raibh míle maith agat, táim ag tnúth le freagra uait.
