Never call an Icelander by anything else but the first name. They usually have no family names at all. Vigdís Finnbogadóttir is never called anything else than Vigdís or Vigdís Finnbogadóttir. You don't address an Icelander by patronymic alone. When V.F. was the president, she was called Vigdís forseti, i.e. president Vigdís.
