Beatha[cuir in eagar | athraigh foinse]

Rugadh Christesen Townsville, áit ar chaith sé a óige. Ba de shliocht Éireannach agus Danmhargach a athair Patrick, agus ba de shliocht Éireannach a mháthair den chuid is mó. D’aistrigh siad go Brisbane sa bhliain 1917, áit ar fhreastail Christesen ar Ollscoil Queensland.

Tar éis gur fhág sé an ollscoil chuaigh sé ag obair mar iriseoir don Courier-Mail in Brisbane agus don Telegraph, agus bhí sé ina oifigeach poiblíochta ag rialtas Queensland.[1] Foilsíodh Meanjin den chéad uair sa bhliian 1940, nuair a tháinig Christesen ar ais ón iasacht. Nuair a tairgeadh tuarastal agus tacaíocht dó, d’aistrigh sé go dtí Ollscoil Melbourne sa bhliian 1945. D’éirigh sé as post an eagarthóra sa bhliain 1974.
