Bhí sé ar feadh scaithimh sa Indian Civil Service ag Visakhapatnam,[1] agus freisin sa Nilgiris district.
Scríobh sé roinnt leabhar fair stair na hÉireann. Toghadh é mar comhalta an Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland sa bhliain 1896.[4]
