Is córas dlí fornáisiúnta é Dlí an Aontais Eorpaigh laistigh desna 27 ballstát den Aontas Eorpach (AE). Léirmhínítear dlí, agus cruthaítear cásdlí, an AE ag an mbrainse breithiúnach, aitheanta go comhchoiteann mar Chúirt Bhreithiúnais an Aontais Eorpaigh.

Cruthaítear gníomhartha dlí an an AE le nósanna imeachta reachtaíochta éagsúla, agus iad a leanas rannpháirteach ann:

Níl ceart maidir le tionscnamh reachtach ach leis an gCoimisiún.

Is féidir le baill nua a dhul isteach san AE má ghlacann siad le rialacha an Aontais, agus tá cead ag baill a dhul amach dar lena gcuid riachtanais bunreachta féin.[4] Mar thoradh tarraing siar na Ríochta Aontaithe, tá ann anois corpas dlí coinnithe an AE laistigh de dlí na Ríochta Aontaithe.
