Ba staraí Éireannach é Colmán Etchingham, arb é a réimse oibre stair na hÉireann roimh ré na Normannach.

Bhain Etchingham céim amach i gColáiste na Tríonóide i mBaile Átha Cliath, áit ar bhain sé PhD amach chomh maith.[1]

Bhí sé cleamhnaithe le hOllscoil na hÉireann, Má Nuad, ó 2003, agus bhí sé ina Léachtóir Emeritus i Luathstair na hÉireann, tar éis dó dul ar luathscor sa bhliain 2019.[1]

Ba shaineolaí é an Dr Etchingham i go leor gnéithe de stair na meánaoise luaithe, go háirithe luath-stair Eaglais na hÉireann, luath-dhlí na hÉireann agus stair na ruathairí agus na lonnaitheoirí Lochlannacha in Éirinn tráth na meánaoise luaithe, sa Bhreatain agus i 'nDomhan na Lochlannach‘ i gcoitinne.[1]

Fuair Colmán bás Dé Céadaoin, 7 Meitheamh 2023, tar éis tinnis agus é ar saoire sa Ghréig.[1]
