English: Derrynane House The ancestral home of the lawyer, politician, and statesman, Daniel O'Connell. Known to Irish people as 'The Liberator', in 1829 he obtained Catholic Emancipation for Ireland entirely by political and peaceful means. Designated a National Monument, the house, its contents, and the parklands surrounding it are owned by the Irish State, and comprises Derrynane National Historic Park, which is open to the public.
